Since Michael was a young lad, he loved playing and watching sports. He ran Track and Cross Country and, played Basketball. However realizing he wasn’t going to the NBA due to his lack of height, he decided to do the next best thing, be a Sports Anchor! He got his start P.A. Announcing local basketball tournaments and his High School Basketball games.
He then headed off to San Diego State University and majored in Journalism and interned in the Sports Departments at KFMB and KGTV in San Diego. He got to cover all of the Padres, Chargers, and Aztecs games. He also helped with KFMB’s High School Football show, “Friday Football Live.” He hosted his own Sports Talk show on SDSU’s campus radio station KCR, it was called the “Aztec Sports Connection,” and he even did a little play-by-play for Aztecs Men’s Basketball on KCR.
After graduation Michael moved to Sacramento and interned at the Sacramento King’s Flagship Radio Station, Sports 1140 KHTK, and interned at KCRA covering the Sacramento Kings.
Michael grew up in Santa Cruz, CA and is glad he gets to cover the teams he watched growing up. He wants Sports to be exciting for not just the sports fans, but also the non-sports fan too. When Michael is not giving the lowdown on sports, you’ll see him at the gym working out, and playing basketball. Or you might see him on the golf course. He loves to root for his Aztecs, the Sacramento Kings, 49ers, Sharks, and the Yankees. Michael also likes to surf but where the water is warmer.
He’s involved in his church, and loves to hang out with family and friends. Michael is a California boy at heart but is excited to cover sports in Southern Oregon, and Northern California. If you have a sports story email Michael or if you see him out and about say hello.
Michael’s claim to fame is playing Michael Jordan one–on-one at MJ’s basketball camp in Santa Barbara when he was in High School, check it out: www.youtube.com/sonic233e
